The double junction seen in advance of the fouling bar was also known as Penrhos junction although not commonly referred to as such because of confusion with Penrhos junction west of Caerphilly Tynycaeau junction

VOG Vale of Glamorgan Aberthaw Cement Works siding signal box with then newly erected 2-doll bracket signal assembly in preparation for west end reception siding connection to Aberthaw East station layout. Aberthaw Cement works signal box (now removed)

VOG Vale of Glamorgan West end of Aberthaw station when passenger services still operated. Note that the old Saxby and Farmer two-doll wooden bracket starter signal with somersault arms had recently been replaced with the new 2-doll tubular bracket signal, seen still in red oxide primer. the left arm applied to the down platform line and the right arm to the down main line. Bungalows are now situated on the up platform and waiting room site Aberthaw station footbridge (Since removed) 5 05 East 1960

MLT Moat Lane Jct & Talyllyn Road overbridge between Aberedw and Builth Wells. The line had been closed at the time and later the bridge was removed and the trackbed was converted to a road. The bridge sidewalls were still present in 2009. The pristine condition of the permanent way was typical of many branches that were closed due to lack of traffic Approximately 1 mile west of Erwood station     West 15-Sep1963

BRY Cardiff (General) & Barry Pier Up & down main lines alongside former Western Welsh 'bus garage, Barry and where a lattice sided footbridge known as Butler's Bridge stood until the abolition of the footpath to the docks on the commencement of redevelopment of the No.1 dock area after 1970. BDO Barry Docks-Low level lines (at No.1 Dock) Looking north-east along the up line at the southern extremity of the former through low level up line to Graving Dock jct and up an incline to Cadoxton Low Level jct. In its final state, this siding ran for about 10 chains away from this point. The last chemical traffic used the line to the southern tank farm at No.1 Dock in about 1997, via the points shown in frame bpm02727.jpg The final headshunt east of former Barry Low Level goods yard, No.1 Dock 7 57 SW

BDO Barry Docks-Low level lines (at No.1 Dock) Looking south-west along the former up line (in the down direction) at the southern extremity of the earlier through low level line which came from Graving Dock jct and down a four-line incline from Cadoxton Low Level jct. In its final state, this siding ran to a further headshunt adjacent to and below the Barry Island viaduct. It then ran back eastwards to serve the chemical tank farm at the southern side of No.1 dock. The last chemical traffic used the line to the southern tank farm at No.1 Dock in about 1997, via the points shown in frame bpm02727.jpg. This line was accessed via the ramp line on the far side of the level crossing this side of the footbridge.The footbridge was removed in the 1990s and stored in sections in a compound alongside the old engine house on the right but on week ending March 31st 2007, it was cut up for scrap The final headshunt east of former Barry Low Level goods yard, No.1 Dock 7 56 NW

BDL Barry Docks-High level lines The Mole in No.1 Dock, Barry showing the foundations of the former coal hoists. The hoists were removed prior to World War II and the Mole area was then used extensively for the Cory Oil Works (later Powell Dyffryn) oil tanker loading/unloading. Two separate sidings ran onto the area from the West Pond complex, from the right Footbridge at Barry Low Level Goods yard
